The nightlife in Monteverde is not just your typical drinking, music and dancing experience. It offers something far wilder: 'jungle night walks'.
Armed with little more than a flashlight, you follow a guide through forest trail while keeping your eyes peeled and ears tweaked for creatures of the night. You've got a good chance of spotting frogs, sloths, tarantulas, insects and roosting birds. The path in front of you might be lit up with fire flies, and if you're really lucky, you might see two bright eyes flashing at you from deep within the forest.
Both the Monteverde and the Santa Elena reserves offer two-hour night walks, and the Children's Eternal Rainforest and Refugio de Vida Silvestre offer two-hour twilight walks.
