Cricklade is a small town in north Wiltshire in England, on the River Thames, situated approx 7 miles north of Swindon. Cricklade was founded in the 9th Century by the Saxons, where the Roman Road 'Ermin Street' crosses the River Thames. Cricklade is surrounded by beautiful countryside and is ideal for walking, riding and cycling. At the north of the town is 'North Meadow', a National Nature Reserve, and home to the rare 'Snakeshead Fritillary' which flower in April.
Cricklade has several nice country pubs, situated on the traditional saxon-style high street. There are some nice little shops/boutiques too. There is a thriving 'village community' which helped save the leisure centre from closure recently.
