Jumbled urban sprawl, an appalling public transport system and noisy flyovers Auckland is not the best introduction to clean, green New Zealand. Nestled between the Waitemata and Manukau habours, this self-proclaimed “City of Sails” has the stunning Hauraki Gulf islands right on its doorstep and here lies Auckland's greatest feature: escape the city by jumping a ferry to the idyllic vineyard-strewn Waiheke island (40 minutes) or to volcanic Rangitoto (20 minutes).

People there think it's the real capital because its larger! Everyone is rude and unfriendly. The drivers are stupid and agressive in their big shiny SUV's and only one child in the back!!
People choose to live there and dare to complain about the traffic and house prices and the cost of living and how all their money goes south!! They are convinced anywhere past the Bombay Hills is the back of beyond!!

Thank you Aucklanders for the wonderful roads we have on the South Island - we appreciate your tax dollars and hope you think of us while sitting in rush hour traffic!! Hahaha

Waiheke Island is amazing! Not so keen on Auckland city centre but Parnell and Ponsonby are pretty cool :)
